The members have jointly established the Multidisciplinary Research Centre (MRC), which is created and run by experts (academics, researchers) in economic development, spatial development and economics. The quality of the research lab is ensured by the fact that it only encourages members with a high level of expertise, a development approach and a willingness to help. The mission of the research team is to carry out researches that deliver practical and innovative results through the concerted action of its members, with a deliberate focus on the involvement of doctoral, bachelor and master students. Building on the research network of the Doctoral School’s core members abroad and in Hungary, as well as that of the University (both institutional and researcher-partner), many opportunities will open up in the future, both domestically and abroad.

In addition to the above, we will also seek to involve our doctoral students in and support their participation in academic, outreach, awareness-raising, policy-shaping, local social challenge and third mission programmes and events, both nationally and internationally.

Long-term goals of the Research Group:

  • To support innovation in both economic sectors and the civil society;
  • To achieve economic development by improving the competitiveness of individual actors;
  • To contribute to the development of municipalities;
  • To disseminate scientific results at national and international level and to implement them into practice.
  • To strengthen the link between business and science.

Main activities of the research team:

  • To support innovation activities;
  • To facilitate the link between business and science;
  • To organise and conduct professional workshops and events;
  • To facilitate network management activities for the partners of the research lab;
  • To carry out research related to environmental, economic and social issues;
  • To facilitate research collaborations;
  • To prepare and implement educational programmes;
  • To do project management activities;
  • To develop strategic and operational studies;
  • To assess the competitiveness and innovation potential of municipalities and other areas;
  • To widen the international cooperation network of the University, in particular in fields related to the research team’s activities.

The work of the research team is facilitated by a wide network of the University, which – among others – includes the Hungarian National Archives, the Ministry of Agriculture, national and international universities and institutions, as well as by a number of other organisations in the public and business sectors, as strategic partners.
