WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT?
The Department of Aeronautical Engineering is the newest engineering department at Milton Friedman University, established in 2023.
The Department’s goal is to provide the best possible preparation for the pilot candidates who choose our University for their chosen profession, so that our graduating students can choose from the best positions in the job market. We also aim to ensure that they have a successful career in the air transport industry, and to equip them with the knowledge and skills to become middle managers and managers in airlines and other companies in the industry. Our students
- receive theoretical and practical training as an airline pilot to the most advanced European standards;
- pass the official examinations required to obtain their pilot licence;
- learn about the technological processes involved in piloting in the aviation sector;
- gain first-hand experience of the operation of an international airport, the maintenance of large aircraft and the management of airspace handling international traffic, taking advantage of the Budapest location;
- learn about the natural phenomena and technical solutions that make aviation possible;
- acquire basic knowledge of vehicle engineering;
- acquire knowledge of business administration, management and quality assurance beyond the narrow field of aviation safety;
- receive comprehensive competence development training.
In addition to the University’s own teaching staff, the Department is supported by well-qualified external lecturers with academic degrees, recognised professional knowledge and experience, many of whom are the most experienced and respected experts in the field, and professional leaders of our partner institutions. Our most important partners are the Airwin Global Ltd. flight school, the University of Óbuda, Budapest Airport, Aeroplex Central European Ltd., Trustair Aviation and Hungarocontrol.
Our department is currently in charge of the aeronautical engineering undergraduate degree. At the end of the seven-semester, mainly Hungarian-language course, we award a BSc degree in aeronautical engineering, an integrated ATP(A) – Airline Transport Pilot (Aircraft) – pilot training course in accordance with the standardised European requirements, a commercial pilot licence and international certificates certified by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Our graduates are eligible to apply for first officer positions with international airlines.
